Join Forces with BC Senior Living Association!

There has never been a better time to join BCSLA. As the provincial voice for owners and operators of retirement residences and assisted living, BCSLA continues to increase its presence and influence with government, regulators, the media and consumers. While a single residence may not be able to influence change, together we can impact the future of the seniors living industry.

In 2007/2008 BCSLA has worked diligently on behalf of our members to ensure proclaimed changes to the Residential Tenancy Act were not enacted. We are now an active member of the provincial task force to design a self regulatory model that would compliment the seniors housing industry. BCSLA membership would ensure your thoughts form part of our platform in these directions.

In addition to member education, roundtable consultations and networking, BCSLA is also working on the following initiatives for the benefit of membership.

  1. Consultation with professional tax advisors to address proposed BC Assessment changes that could influence taxation rates and property valuation throughout our industry.
  2. Development and implementation of a 'Seal of Approval' best practices program to promote quality standards of practice amongst member sites.
  3. Development of a 'Best Practices' policy and procedures manual based on the Seal of Approval model
  4. Implementation of an on-line College Certificate Program for Recreational Activity Coordinators and Site Managers

BCSLA is working with the Ministry of Health on the steering committee to develop an Intergenerational Toolkit that fosters and supports interaction between elders and youth to ensure BC creates age-friendly communities. BCSLA Board also has representation on the Assisted Living Provincial Standing Committee that is developing a province wide performance management framework for government funded assisted living.

Our mission is to advocate on behalf of membership to address issues of importance that impact our businesses and affect our customers. We are committed to ensuring BCSLA has a high profile within individual communities and at the provincial level to address the issues that matter to our membership.

Membership Options

Whether you're an owner, manager, executive or supplier, the association offers tremendous value and support. BCSLA offer two types of membership:

Service Site Application Form
Service Site Member
Providers of retirement or assisted living accommodations to seniors with a mandatory service package (hospitality and assisted living services).
Associate Member Application Form
Associate Member
An individual, commercial supplier, consultant or professional service provider interested in the retirement industry, or a proprietary company or non-profit society that contracts to manage or operate a retirement residence.
