Canadian Alliance of Senior Living - 'New' National Alliance
Posted April 8, 2010 at 11:43am by BCSLA
What is CASL?
In June 2008 a Think Tank was held in Ontario and hosted by ORCA. The purpose of the think tank was to bring industry leaders and government together to discuss issues that face the senior living industry both provincial and federal. Following the Think Tank it was identified that a national alliance amongst the provinces would be beneficial to engage our members and stakeholders from across Canada in the senior living industry to work together towards common goals. A mission, vision and strategic direction for CASL/ACRA were developed with input from all across Canada.
The four founding provinces are Alberta Senior Citizens' Housing Association (ASCHA), British Columbia Senior Living Association (BCSLA), Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA) and Regroupement Québécois Des Résidences Pour Aínés.
A survey was completed and it was agreed the Strategic Directions of CASL were:
- Identify Nation Wide issues
- Develop Social Marketing
- Create Common Terminology
- Stimulate Research and Collect data
- Share Best Practices
- Track Market Trends
Our first CASL Conference will be in June in Alberta hosted by ASCHA. At this conference there will be representation from all 11 provinces and we will be sharing information and discussing like minded strategies and issues.
Please share your thoughts on any of the above Strategic Directions so the BC representatives can effectively present the challenges and accomplishments of the senior living industry in our province at this conference.
If you want to attend this conference please contact the BCSLA office 604-689-5949
