BCSLA Education Seminars
Posted April 7, 2010 at 1:32pm by BCSLA
Our Assisted Living Seminars were started in January of this year in conjunction with the Assisted Living Registrar. Industry professionals were asked to donate their time to investigate the topics and present the information. We thank all presenters for doing such a great job. The topics were:
- The Difference between Meal Service & Therapeutic Diets
- Best Practices Resident Occupancy Agreement
- Developing Personal Service Plans
- The Difference between Assigned & Delegated Tasks in Assisted Living
Our last topic of the Assisted Living series is Drafting Complaint Resolutions and is scheduled for late fall of this year.
All of these sessions achieved high attendance and our surveys told us they were very informative and our members and non members appreciated the sessions.
Please comment on what you would like to see presented next. Are there more areas within the Assisted Living segment that needs to be addressed? How about Leadership, Teambuilding or Operational sessions?
Share your thoughts and we will investigate.

I believe passionately that our seniors should be respected for their contribution to BC (and Canada). The way the Assisted Living and Residential Care Programmes are funded is contrary to this sentiment! The more a person looks after themselves with financial responsibility, the more they end up paying as the charges are based on Taxable Income. This paradox is not limited to Assisted Living - Old Age Security, MSP discounts, the Veterans allowance ........ are all impacted. I'd like to help by providing an education session that explains the issues and suggests some solutions.
